July 2025 was a busy and inspiring month for the ASTRAIOS Project. With two major events on the European space calendar, the project was actively represented and engaged in key conversations on the future of space education, skills development, and workforce mobility. As the project approaches its final phase, these moments of visibility and exchange are essential in sharing results and building lasting connections across the sector.
The month began in Rome, where ASTRAIOS participated in EUCASS 2025 by presenting a poster titled ‘Examine European student geographic mobility in the space field.’ The poster showcased ASTRAIOS' research on how students move across Europe to pursue space-related studies, the barriers they encounter, and how mobility can be better aligned with the needs of the space labour market. This contribution sparked valuable exchanges with attendees and highlighted the importance of removing structural and informational barriers to ensure broader access to educational and career opportunities in the space sector.

Shortly after, ASTRAIOS was present at the New Space Economy Congress in Barcelona, contributing to high-level discussions on the future of the European space economy. The project shared its work on skills intelligence, education mapping, and workforce mobility, offering evidence-based insights to support long-term planning for a resilient, inclusive, and competitive space workforce. The Congress provided an excellent platform to strengthen synergies between research, policy, and industry stakeholders.

Later in the month, ASTRAIOS joined the UK Space Conference in Belfast during a dedicated workshop on solving skills challenges in the space sector. The session focused on the current talent shortages and the role of strategic collaboration in addressing them. ASTRAIOS’ presence underscored the value of coordinated European initiatives in informing national efforts, offering data and tools to help close critical skills gaps and support the next generation of space professionals.

Momentum is building as ASTRAIOS continues to share its findings across Europe. Stay tuned for what’s next — more events, insights, and outcomes are on the way as we move closer to shaping lasting impact in the space education and workforce ecosystem.
